Smoothies are one of my favorite breakfast foods. When I don’t feel like cooking, or thinking, or just about anything in the morning, a tall smoothie filled with nutritious ingredients is a perfect no-brainer meal. They also keep me full through the entire morning and afternoon, which keeps me from overeating and saves me time in preparing more meals.

This smoothie is a sweet but healthy mixture of berries, banana, oats, almond milk, and chia seeds. You can bring it together easily by mixing together the berries together when freezing them, and buying lots of browning bananas at a low cost so that you can slice them up and freeze them. Much cheaper than buying them already frozen! You can certainly make your own almond milk to go in this, or just use the store-bought kind. The chia seeds will thicken it up a little and are packed with essential nutrients.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • 1 small handful each frozen blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup almond milk, or as needed
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Add into your blender the chia seeds, rolled oats, berries, banana, and cinnamon. Pour in about 1/2 a cup of almond milk and turn the blender on low. Pour in more almond milk as everything starts to blend, until you get to your desired consistency. Turn up the speed as you go, and as it comes to a smooth consistency keep the speed on high for 2-3 minutes.

This makes one large glass or serves two to share if you’re not that hungry/thirsty. Enjoy!
